Aston Martin has a foldable phone that you absolutely shouldn’t buy

It's not a abhorrent deal, but there's no point in it

Polestar accelerates the shift to sustainable mobility, by making electric active irresistible.

Whether it’s t-shirts, hats, watches, briefcases, bicycles, or even perfume, automakers — abnormally those at the pricier end of the market — just love to sell branded goodies. It’s accession way to cash in on the brand’s badge value and get free acknowledgment from the suckers drivers that absolutely buy it.

Never has it been a good idea to buy a piece of high-end car branded merch, and Aston Martin’s foldable phone proves that perfectly.

Yes, you read that correctly. Aston Martin is affairs a foldable phone. Well kind of, it’s absolutely a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 with a bunch of Aston Martin Racing Edition commodity in the box and a heftier price tag.

Under the surface, it’s absolutely the same as the accepted Samsung device, it comes with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of accumulator — plenty of space for all those hi-res pictures of that Aston Martin DB11 you don’t even own.

What’s in the box, a Samsung foldable phone, Galaxy Watch, and some Aston Martin goodies.

It’s only being sold in China by Tmall and will cost 20,999 Yuan (about $3,140). Considering the accepted device is 16,999 Yuan (about $2,540), anyone that buys this is paying around $600 more just for a few Aston Martin trinkets in the box.

Alongside the covering case, there’s also a t-shirt, a hat, and a Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, which is a nice accession but still doesn’t absolutely absolve the price increase.

This is a decidedly aberrant bundle, it’s just a accepted Samsung device in a box of with some (possibly) extra Aston Martin merchandise. It’s not clear if this has been put calm by Aston Martin or the banker Tmall.

It wouldn’t be the first time that a car brand has slapped its name on a phone, though. Luxury car brand Bentley ahead put its name on the fairly boilerplate Vertu phone and then answerable $9,000 for it. With that in mind, it makes this Aston Martin bundle seem like the most okay-ish of deals.

If you do happen to own an Aston Martin, you’ll already know that you don’t need branded commodity to show off the fact you think you’re James Bond. You have the car, the real deal, for that. If you’re not near your car, aloofly agreement the keys on the table in front of you will suffice.

On the flip side, if you want to trick people into you own a posh sports car, there are far cheaper options — like announcement a account of yourself continuing next to one on Instagram like a normal person.

In reality, no appreciative Aston owner is going to buy this and neither should you.

SHIFT is brought to you by Polestar. It’s time to advance the shift to acceptable mobility. That is why Axis combines electric active with cutting-edge design and blood-tingling performance. Find out how.
