We cover a lot of stuff accompanying to AI. There are some alluring models that can create talking head videos based on just one picture, or dispense an image with just one click. But now there’s a alluring model that can stop your cat from bringing dead prey home.

Ben Hamm, architect of the model and an architect at Amazon, noticed his cat often brought dead animals back to the house as a ‘gift.’ As a cat person myself, I can absolutely relate to Hamm’s problem. While the cat got rid of rats to his relief, it’s not affable to wake up to a dead rat. So he turned to AI for help, and built a model that would lock the cat door when his pet tried to bringing a dead animal with it.

To train the AI, he installed an Amazon Deeplink camera above the cat door, and used altered images of the cat with and after the prey. Over time, he labeled over 23,000 images to make the algorithm better at audition if the cat is accustomed prey. His algorithm follows three stages: audition whether there is a cat in the frame, audition if the cat is coming back or abrogation the house, and audition if the cat brings prey in its mouth while coming back.

If all three stages are austere the cat door is locked. He used an Arduino digital board to build a locking/unlocking apparatus for the door. The system also sends Hamm a text with pictures of the cat, and donates some money to the Audubon Society, a bird accompanying organization.
